Easter 2018

We actually started celebrating Easter a week early this year with a potluck Easter Brunch and Egg Hunt at our church.  The kiddos had a fun time hanging out with their friends, though the egg hunt lasted about 30 seconds.  Who knew they could move so fast!?

Our Spring Break started, for reals, the Thursday before Easter.  It was the last day of the 3rd quarter at the kids' school, and the traditional skating party in the multi-purpose room.  Charlotte was sad that this will be her last skating party of elementary school, but her friend told her in middle school they get to have dances.  Oh boy!

The teacher in charge of the activity is a friend, and even though Amelie is not in school yet, she offered her a pair of little skates and said she could participate with the K-2 crowd.  Amelie was thrilled!  She borrowed Charlotte's helmet, so it was a little big, but oh well. It was quite tricky keeping her upright, but worth it, as she giggled like crazy and told anyone who would listen, "It's my first time on wheels!"

They had the school mascot there for photos and Amelie was my only kiddos who wanted to do that. The Dachshund was kind enough to hold her up while I snapped a picture.

Jacob skated his little feet off, but didn't slow down long enough for a photo until he was done.  The Student Council sells hot dog dinners as a fundraiser at these events, and my guys look forward to that almost as much as the skating.

The next day, Good Friday, we died our Easter eggs and cleaned up the house to get ready for the bunny's visit.

On Saturday we made our traditional Bunny Cake, deviled eggs (the kids were mad I peeled the eggs they had died just the day before,) played video games, and otherwise bummed around the house.  It was a pretty drizzly week!

On Sunday morning the kiddos found their Easter baskets, new books, and some eggs that were hidden around the house.  Then we settled in to watch General Conference.  I made a small ham, funeral potatoes, asparagus, salad, applesauce, and rolls. We enjoyed it as a late lunch/early dinner and then watched some more conference.

On Monday the sun finally came out and I put all of the kids to work in the garden.  We got most of the veggie beds prepped, and planted zucchini, potatoes, tomatoes, kohlrabi, and added a few new herbs to the herb garden.  It was great to have Easter Monday feel so Springy and warm.  I have missed the sun!
